Bloomsburg and Thousand Islands
Rose Marie grew up in Bloomsburg, the
daughter of Elizabeth and Eugene Welliver.
Syracuse was located conveniently between
Bloomsburg and the family summer home in
the Thousand Islands along the St. Lawrence
River. She and Prinya would enjoy good times
in both places with her sister and brother-in-
law Mary Lu and Tom Dixon, and her brother
and sister-in-law George and Donna Welliver.
They visited frequently with the Quackenbush
family on Wellesley Island. Paul Quackenbush
was their guest in the orchard in Bangkok on
many occasions during his sojourn as a pilot for
Air America during the Vietnam War. The Wellive homestead at Whit - Well
Farm, Bloomsburg, Pa.
Prinya adjusted very well to life in the United States, but as was true with so many Thai
students who studied abroad, he felt his place was back in Thailand serving his country. He
returned with an MBA degree in Finance in 1969. Rose Marie completed a teaching assignment
and returned to Thailand one year later.
